IRS Payment Plans and Non-Collectible Hardship Status
In assessing each case, our primary objectives are to (1) stop IRS involuntary collection and (2) save our clients as much money as possible, where applicable. In situations when a payment plan is called for, we first seek to make the payments as low as possible, or even nothing at all, allowing our clients to continue living the same standard of life.
Payment plans are a tricky subject and there are several different types including full pay, partial pay and streamlined installment agreements. Our experts evaluate with you the benefits and potential risks of each and discuss carefully your true ability to pay, which often will be different than what the IRS believes you can afford. If we find that you are truly unable to pay anything, we will fight for the IRS to place you on “non-collectible status,” meaning they have no right to come after you for multiple years, allowing your tax liability to also move closer to their expiration dates (CSED). For more information regarding CSEDs, please visit this section in our services provided.
